Help Shape the Future of Métis Children's Health.
MNO Sharing Circles

Are you a Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) citizen who is a caregiver of children aged 5-15, or a young Métis citizen aged 10-15? If so, this is your chance to help shape Métis children's programs by joining MNO sharing circles. Your input will help uplift Métis children's voices and guide how we support them. Why Métis Children's Health Matters

Studies show Indigenous children, including Métis, report poorer health than non-Indigenous children. To change this, our researchers are gathering specific data on Métis children’s health to better address their unique needs and support Métis data sovereignty. The MNO is focusing on the health needs of school-aged Métis children (ages 5-15), an area that lacks sufficient programs. This project builds on previous work for Métis youth and is led by a Métis graduate student to build research capacity within the community.

Study Goals:
  • Review health data for Indigenous children aged 5-15 and assess existing programs.
  • Use Indigenous research methods to understand Métis children's health needs.
  • Share findings with MNO communities to address gaps in services for Métis children.

Calling All Educators, Caregivers and Students!
Help shape the future of Métis education in Ontario

The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) invites you to take part in an important survey that will help shape the future of education in our communities. Your participation will ensure the MNO has the resources needed to support the educational journeys of K-12 Métis students. By sharing your insights, you’ll help us uncover educational gaps and demonstrate the urgent need for support from federal and provincial governments, school boards, and other funders.

Why Your Feedback Matters:

  • • Spotlight Needs: identify key areas where support is needed.
  • • Drive Change: influence educational priorities and resource allocation.
  • • Empower Métis Voices: ensure that the unique needs of Métis students are heard and addressed.

Completing the survey is quick and easy. Your participation will directly contribute to advancing education priorities and securing necessary support. While the survey is open to any educator, participating students or caregivers must be MNO citizens. Together, we can make a difference!

The collected “Family Voices” stories will be compiled into a book to preserve and highlight stories showcasing how the growth of the MNO and Powley decision have positively affected families across the MNO.
